- DOES THE HOUSE HAVE AIR CONDITIONING?

Yes, we do have a Air Conditioning system that covers the most important areas of the house.

- IS THERE BROADBAND INTERNET?

Yes! We have the best available internet service in the area. Since early 2020 we now have optical fibre service at 400/200 mbits/s, lightning fast!

Our WIFI routers with mesh system cover the whole house and the pool area.

- IS THERE A TV?

We a have 55" LED smart TV. Besides the +200 TV channels on the set top box (including movies channels, series, news, children, etc) we also have 2 hdd with plenty of HD movies.

- I LOVE NETFLIX AND I CAN'T MISS MY FAVOURITE SHOW. NOW WHAT?

We have a subscribed Netflix account on our 55" smart TV. You are welcome to use our guest account.

- DO I NEED TO BRING MY BLUETOOTH SPEAKER?

We have many ways to keep music lovers happy at Casa do Pego. We have 2 portable and rechargeable speakers. A Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A2 and a Pablo Uma Sound Lantern. You can pair them with your phone and take them anywhere with you. In the living room we have a bluetooth receiver so you can stream your music to our vintage stereo system, adding more stage to your favourite sounds. For radio fans we have a Vintage Grundig Satellit 2000 receiver.

- WHAT'S IN THE KITCHEN?

We have a professional kitchen with a cooking island. There is a wide 90cm oven, an induction cooking plate as well as one gas cooktop. American fridge with icemaker and cold, filtered water. Microwave oven, toaster, juicer, nespresso coffee machine and filtered coffee machine. All appliances and utensils are top of the line. Countertops are made of concrete but they are very fragile. This means you always have to use a cutting board to prepare your meals.

- CAN I DO LAUNDRY?

You can, but you shouldn't. You should instead enjoy the beach, the heated pool and the local food. But if you still want to do laundry, you can use our laundry room. We have a washing machine and a drying machine. Both are Class A+ energy efficient. There is also plenty of room to air dry your towels and clothes. 

- IS CASA DO PEGO ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY?

We really try to! And we keep investing in solutions to save energy and the environment. All our appliances are Class A++ rated. We recently installed a 16 solar panel array for clean electricity. We also have 2 solar panels for hot water and we have a solar cover at the swimming pool that warms up the water during the day in a natural way and prevents the water from getting cold during the evening. We don't have air conditioning, but the house is designed in such a way that you get a permanent breeze and air flow.

- IS THE POOL TREATED WITH CHLORINE OR SALT?

Our heated pool is treated with salt. Water quality is checked every week when the pool is cleaned.

- AT WHAT TEMPERATURE IS THE POOL?

The pool is usually between 27°C and 29°C

- IS THE POOL HEATED ALL YEAR ROUND?

No. The pool is closed in the winter. As it’s an outdoor pool, it would not be ecological and economically sustainable to keep the water warm during the colder months. It’s also not comfortable to leave the pool and feel the cold breeze on the rooftop.

- HOW FAR IS THE CLOSEST BEACH?

 The closest beach is Praia do Pego (Pego beach). It’s just a 5 minute walk to our house, 2 minutes by bicycle or 1 minute by car. The sidewalk is large enough to go by bicycle or push a stroller or wheelchair. This is the easiest way, following the road that leads to the beach and Sal restaurant. Alternatively you can get to a deserted part of the beach by crossing the pinewoods and adventure through the dunes. We can teach you how.

The second closest beach is Carvalhal beach.

- WHAT ABOUT A PERSONAL CHEF?

 Sure! We work with a local chef that really knows how to cook the best local products. He belongs to a family of fishermen and really knows about fish and seafood. He and his wife can cook wonderful meals for you. You just sit back, relax and enjoy the wonderful local flavours and smells.

- ARE THERE ANY BICYCLES?

Unfortunatelly we don’t have bicycles but we can help you rent them. We work with a local girl that delivers the bicycles and picks them up in the end. Bicycle is a great way to wonder around and go back and forth to the beach.

- WHERE IS THE NEAREST HOSPITAL OR DOCTOR?

Nearest hospital would be Hospital do Litoral Alentejano, located in Santiago do Cacém, about 40km drving south. Hospital de Setubal is about 50 minutes away driving north and in Lisbon you will find the biggest hospital like Santa Maria Hospital or São José Hospital, In Carvalhal town there is a private practice doctor.

- AND THE PHARMACY?

There is a small pharmacy in Carvalhal town, right on main street that sells all the basics. If you need something more specific, best is to go to Comporta or Grandola.

- I LOVE YOGA! DO I HAVE TO BRING MY OWN MAT?

We have 3 yoga mats that you are free to use.

- ARE THERE ANY UMBRELLAS THAT I CAN USE AT THE BEACH?

We have 3 umbrellas. Hope it’s enough… From June until September you can also rent a shade and sunbed on the beach front. You can rent them through Sal restaurant.

- HOW CAN I RENT A SHADE AND SUNBEDS AT THE BEACH?

We can help with that. But you can always call Sal Restaurant. For summer we highly advise to reserve weeks ahead.

- SHOULD I MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR THE RESTAURANTS?
We really advise to do so. Specially for high season. You can find the restaurant contacts in our Beach & Around section.
